James E. Hickmon Earns Legal Specialist Certification
The Charlotte law firm of James E. Hickmon, PLLC, in Charlotte are pleased to announce that founder, Jim Hickmon, has become certified by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law.
Board Certification is a comprehensive effort that requires years of commitment. Applicants must be licensed and in good standing, substantially involved in the practice area for a minimum of five years, and must attend a certain number of continuing legal education credits in the specialty area during the three years prior to application. A satisfactory showing of qualification in the specialty through judicial and peer review must be made and the applicant must achieve a satisfactory score on a written examination. The certification of lawyers as specialists according to objective criteria fulfills the mission of the North Carolina State Bar to protect the public by providing truthful, relevant, and reliable information to consumers of legal services. Certifications help clients identify lawyers who are skilled and experienced in a specific area of practice.
Jim Hickmon earned his law degree from Wake Forrest University School Law in 2001. He holds an MBA from East Carolina University and an undergraduate in science from University of North Carolina Wilmington, and certified as a Certified Financial Planner® since 1996. He is recognized through peer review by Martindale Hubbell as an AV Preeminent Peer Rated Lawyer, at Business North Carolina Legal Elite, and by North Carolina Super Lawyers. He is an adjunct professor of law at Wake Forest University teaching Wealth Transfer and Fiduciary Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates to upper-level law students.
